GOELIA's Tree Houses -- A Dream of Sleeping with Nature

by Lillian Lei 29 Aug 2023

GOELIA partnered with designers worldwide to offer an eco-friendly selection of stunning tree houses. We aim to provide a space for people to unwind and reconnect with nature's beauty.

Throughout more than two decades of global traveling, GOELIA has found boundless inspiration in the wonders of both nature and human civilization. This extensive journey has nurtured a profound desire to craft a haven where people can completely unwind and reconnect with the natural world.

In pursuit of this ambitious goal, GOELIA has forged partnerships with renowned Tree House Master Takashi Kobayashi and visionary designers from diverse corners of the world. Their combined efforts have resulted in an impressive array of treehouse ideas that are not only breathtakingly beautiful but also environmentally sustainable. These treehouses serve as a testament to human ingenuity, celebrating our deep-rooted connection with the natural world.

In a world marked by rapid urbanization and a growing disconnect from nature, GOELIA's initiative shines as a beacon of hope. It bridges the gap between modern living and our innate yearning for harmony with nature. Each treehouse, a marvel of architecture, represents this harmonious union, where human creativity seamlessly blends with the serene embrace of the wilderness. They showcase our ability not only to admire and respect the Earth but also to create dwellings that coexist harmoniously with its beauty and fragility.

These treehouses offer a unique opportunity for people to escape the hustle and bustle of urban life and immerse themselves in the tranquility of nature. They provide a sanctuary where individuals can rejuvenate their spirits, fostering a deeper appreciation for the environment. In a rapidly changing world, GOELIA's commitment to sustainability and reverence for nature offers a glimpse into a more harmonious and balanced future where humans and the natural world thrive together.

Japanese Tree House Master - Takashi Kobayashi

Takashi Kobayashi is the first designer to collaborate on the GOELIA Tree House project, which seeks to "dissolve the boundary between human and nature." At present, three tree houses the Cloud, the Dream and the Harmony have been built.

In 1994, graduated from Art College of Nihon University, Takashi Kobayashi met Peter Nelson, the world’s top tree house designer, and became inspired to construct tree houses. His goal was to encourage people to reconsider their relationship with nature while in a tree house.

Over the past 20 years, Takashi Kobayashi has built over 120 tree houses and established the Japan Treehouse Network in 2000 and Tree House Creation workshop in 2005. He personally oversees every step of the construction process, taking into account factors such as climate, temperature, and humidity.

The Cloud Tree House

"Xing Yun" (The Cloud) is a tree house built in GOELIA's headquarter office, and is also the first tree house created by Takashi Kobayashi in China. The tree house is built on a banyan tree that traveled to Beijing in 2003.

The name "Xing Yun" means cloud in Chinese, and the tree roof is in the shape of auspicious clouds when viewed from the sky. It echoes the location of the brand's headquarters at the foot of Baiyun Mountain in Guangzhou, and is homophone with "lucky" in Cantonese, implying the good wishes of GOELIA journey towards the world.

The juxtaposition of the iron frame and the natural surroundings presents an intriguing aesthetic contrast, but Mr. Takashi Kobayashi skillfully considered a critical factor—the banyan tree's abundance of branches and relatively inadequate support. To alleviate the strain on the banyan tree, he opted to construct an adjacent iron frame, providing essential support for the treehouse while distributing its weight effectively. Furthermore, he ingeniously fashioned the iron staircase into the likeness of a high-heeled shoe, harmoniously aligning with GOELIA's brand identity that exudes elegance and femininity.

This unique treehouse is situated within the office area, serving as a tranquil retreat for employees. Beyond its functional purpose, it embodies a profound symbol encapsulating the company's core philosophy: Fashion elements from Nature and Civilization.

In this design, the coexistence of the iron framework and the flourishing banyan tree encapsulates the concept of juxtaposing the natural world with human-made elements to create a new form of beauty. It stands as a testament to the delicate balance between man-made innovations and the organic splendor of the environment, echoing the belief that nature when harnessed thoughtfully, can seamlessly blend with the principles of modernity and style.

The Dream Tree House

As Australia is home to GOELIA's spiritual return, and we've also built two more tree houses here. Kangaroo Island is Australia's third largest island and a popular holiday destination in South Australia. It has been rated as "the best island in Asia Pacific" by National Geographic impurities, because of the relatively closed geographical environment, it is not polluted, not eroded by civilization, and is also known as "A Zoo without Fence".

In our mission to establish a thriving ecological haven for wildlife, GOELIA has undertaken the meticulous planting of more than 14,000 eucalyptus trees, breathing life into a haven that beckons native species such as koalas and kangaroos. This extensive reforestation effort serves as a testament to their unwavering commitment to preserving the natural world.

In perfect harmony with this lush sanctuary, GOELIA has unveiled an exceptional treehouse, carefully crafted to allow humans to coexist with the peaceful koalas in this serene setting. This innovative concept redefines the boundaries between people and wildlife, fostering a unique bond and an extraordinary sleeping experience that encapsulates the spirit of conservation and cohabitation.

It is a testament to an innovative spirit, one that seeks to blend the comforts of human living with the tranquility of the wild, proving that when we harmonize with nature, both its beauty and its inhabitants can thrive.

The Harmony Tree House

To bring GOELIA's vision of harmonizing with nature to the local community, we constructed a treehouse in a local school on Kangaroo Island.

On November 7, 2016, the Kangaroo Island Community Education welcomed the completion of this altruistic treehouse project, cherished by both local educators and children.

Fashioned in the likeness of an octopus, the treehouse exudes an inherent sense of youthful delight. Crafted from an assortment of vividly hued woods, these lively tones echo the vivacity of a child's perspective, symbolizing their unbridled inquisitiveness and imaginative faculties. It serves as an adventure park, seamlessly integrating educational and recreational pursuits, thereby encapsulating the aspirations of GOELIA's budding visionaries. Within this realm, the treehouse not only fulfills the children's dreams of slumbering alongside koalas but also embodies humanity's collective yearning for a harmonious coexistence with the natural world.

We sincerely hope that individuals can escape the complexities of their daily lives through tree houses, relieving themselves from the overwhelming and all-encompassing noise of urban spaces. We envision a world where architecture and nature coexist in harmony and balance, allowing people to bask in the wonders of nature and fully appreciate its magnificence.

GOELIA always believes Fashion elements from Nature and Civilization. Through the creation of tree houses, we believe that people can truly connect with nature and experience the tranquility and serenity it offers.
